About Woods Hudson Elementary Woods Hudson Elementary is located in Lachine, Quebec, Canada. It is a home school. We have chosen to call ourselves a school because it makes life easier when dealing with people who are not used to home schooling. Our home school was established (1) in November, 2007 under Section 15(4) of the Quebec Education Act and an agreement entered into with the Lester B. Pearson School Board under Policy 3.4. We have a school logo, a motto, school ID cards, school fax cover sheet, etc. The dining hall is the kitchen. The schoolbus is a Plymouth Voyager. In the main office we have a colour laser printer, black and white laser printers, a copier, fax, and filing cabinets. The audio visual center is in the front room (and it is a serious system). In the audio visual center we have digital cameras, camcorders, a projector and a large screen ideally suited for presentations. The computer lab consists of various workstations (PC's) connected to high speed cable internet and networked around the house wirelessly. Our music room contains five guitars (two classic, one flamenco, one electric and one child-sized classic), one keyboard, several drums and a recorder. In our science lab we have a microscope and a telescope. We have a public library that is a two minute walk away. Also in the neighbourhood we have a park and playground, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a basketball court, outdoor and indoor skating rink, a soccer pitch and a baseball diamond. We have a website. Issac's last public school doesn't. We have all of the trappings of a regular school. We even have a Headmaster who is at the same time the school janitor. The Faculty and Staff Headmaster: Frederick Douglas Hudson (all subjects except physical education, and Chinese) Doug, Issac's father, is a former Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces (17 years). He has been working in the financial services sector since 1992. He works from home. He also has an Internet Service Provider business, which he also operates from home. His educational background is as follows: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Saint Mary's University, 1982 Bachelor of Arts (BA), Honours with Distinction, Saint Thomas University, 1980 Dr. Marguerite Michaud Prize for French Canadian Literature (STU) Department of Romance Languages Prize for Linguistics (STU) Certified Management Accountant (CMA), 1996 Certified Financial Planner (CFP), 1997 Currently enrolled in the North American Montessori Center (NAMC) Upper Elementary Diploma Program to be completed by September, 2008 James Monette (physical education and health) James owns and operates JKS Martial Arts in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. He has over 40 years of experience in the realm of martial arts and teaches the program "Streetwise for Kids". Anna Liu (Chinese) Maîtrise en éducation (didactique des langues secondes). Certificat de didactique du chinois langue seconde et de culture chinoise. Vaste expérience dans l'enseignement du chinois langue seconde. Catechists at Saint Monica's Parish The catechists at Saint Monica's Parish teach Issac the "Faith First" catholic catechism program. Jonathan Rahn (French as a Second Language - advisory role) Johnathan was one of my French professors at Saint Thomas University and is a great friend. He is currently the chair of the Romance Languages Department at Saint Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Essentially I pester him for advice as to how to teach my son French and he reluctantly answers. Notes: "Established" in the normal dictionary meaning of the word which may differ from any special legal meaning of the word that the Minister of Edudaction ascribes to it.
