General
For the most part, Issac will be tutored using the Montessori method for core subjects.
The Montessori method is an educational method for children, based on theories of child development originated
by Italian educator Maria Montessori in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The method is characterized by an emphasis on self-directed activity on the part of the child and clinical observation
on the part of the teacher (often called a "director", "directress", or "guide").
It stresses the importance of adapting the child's learning environment to his developmental level, and of the
role of physical activity in absorbing academic concepts and practical skills.
Music - Violin
Starting in January, 2009, Issac will be studying violin under the tutelage of Aline Papineau of "L'École
de Musique le Prism".

Educational Material and Texts
The bulk of the educational material and textbooks will come from the North American Montessori Center (http://www.montessoritraining.net/curriculum_materials/introduction.htm). This will be supplemented
with online material, notably from LEARN,
a non-profit educational foundation supported by funding from the Québec-Canada Entente for Minority Language
Education.
